Me, Myself and I

Could someone please tell me when we changed the rules for the words myself, and yourself, and other reflexive pronouns, making them interchangeable with I, me and you? I started noticing this trend a few years ago, as in "How are you?" - "Fine, and yourself?" ARGH! I'm tempted to respond by saying "Myself is fine, too."
Today I found it in a blog: "myself and sixteen other bloggers released an e-book..." Do these people think that it sounds more sophisticated? If the sixteen other bloggers weren't involved, would the writer have written "Myself released an e-book?" (UPDATE: The author of the above-quoted blog wrote and thanked me for pointing out the error. She has since corrected it on her blog)
Grammar Girl has a great explanation of when and when not to use reflexive pronouns. It should be required reading!

End of Rant.
